Out to Africa: President's trip unwise, ill-timed

It seems that when the going gets tough, President Barack Obama gets going.

And this time, it is going to cost $100 million, unless snipers have to be added to fend off the cheetahs.

Forget the scandals, forget the questions.

The president does not seem to see any problem at all with dropping an unbelievable sum to take his family on a tour of sub-Saharan Africa.

Well, who wouldn't. Imagine the quality accommodations on that trip vs. what it would cost to fund such an excursion yourself. And since you do not have to run for re-election, who cares what the taxpayers think.

Gee, the economy must be a whole lot better than we think -- or the Obama team figured out something from the call monitoring and records diving that they haven't shared with the rest of us.

To even consider such a trip at this time is not just irresponsible. It is indicative of the fact that the Obamas are exactly what they critiqued the Romneys for being -- arrogant, rich and completely out of touch.

And it is time to tell them to stop spending money that does not belong to them -- and to stop claiming perks that they have no business utilizing in this economy.

This is disgraceful excess. And we should not allow it to go unanswered.
