To remember: We acknowledge those we've lost in valiant struggles against cancer

They come from all walks of life.

Their foe knows no socioeconomic, race, gender or age boundaries. They battle cancer with courage, determination and hope, realizing that only God knows how their story will end.

They are the reason thousands of people will gather at the Wayne County Fairgrounds this weekend. They will be the cause of the smiles, the tears, the memories.

They are the cancer warriors.

As we prepare for the Relay for Life, it is important to remember that it is not the booths, the food, the games or the fun that makes the event so special.

It is that thousands of people will gather with one goal in mind: to make sure that there are more survivors and more birthdays.

But as much as we are fighting for those who are still battling, we should remember those who are no longer with us. So send us their names. The News-Argus will run a memorial column until the Relay to remember those warriors whose fight has come to an end since the last Relay. Submit your Relay angel to kfine@newsargus.com.
