Sense of humor? Super Bowl ad hubbub is ridiculous

Don't look now, but the political correctness police are descending on those Super Bowl ads.

It seems several of them are racist, hate-mongering episodes of intolerance.

Sigh. Makes your head hurt, doesn't it?

From Jamaican advocates who think Volkswagen's "be happy" theme is a stereotype, to the Arab group that thinks a man standing next to a camel in a desert suggests that all Arabs don't have cars, the arguments are bordering on just plain goofy.

And who knows how the Budweiser Clydesdales are going to feel when they look back at the donkey ad from a few years ago. We smell a lawsuit.

Here's the bottom line: It's a commercial. It is not a political statement. It is not hate speak. It is supposed to be funny -- and neither of the aforementioned ads is even close to a social commentary.

Unless, of course, you use the furor they created as a chance to remind people that once in a while, they should not take themselves so seriously.
