Voting change? Interesting idea to look at how elections are won.

It reads like sour grapes -- the Republicans' new proposal to change how electoral votes are allocated -- until you look a little closer.

There has been more than one time over the last few years when someone has raised the question about the fairness of the winner-take-all system of presidential vote allocation.

And this past year, it came up again.

So what is wrong with thinking about making the change not only here in North Carolina, but around the country?

Both parties would gain and win some votes, and the elections would be a whole lot more interesting. And in addition, the vote tally would be a lot more representative of what the American people really said, and chose.

There are many people who are reluctant to make this sort of change. After all, they say, the system has worked for many years.

But it does seem that the electoral vote process might need a makeover.

Perhaps this is a good place to start.
