Shop local, too: Money spent here stays her

Here it is, at last, Black Friday.

And many of you likely have already shopped until you dropped.

But as you plan the rest of your holiday list, please take a moment to think about the other places where you can find the perfect gifts for that special someone right here at home.

There are plenty of local businesses that have both unique gift ideas and some pretty good prices on some items you might be already planning to hunt for this holiday season.

All you have to do is give them a chance to show you what you can find right here at home.

And keep in mind, too, that when you shop local, your money stays here in more ways than one.

First, local businesses contribute to this economy by providing tax revenue as well as jobs and support for local charitable organizations.

And second, when you shop local, you do not have to spend a bunch of money on gas.

There might be some items that are not available locally. And that's OK.

But this season, think local first.

You just might be surprised.
