Grand champion: Milton Ingram served fair with top-notch leadership

Of course he did not want to stick around for the tributes Sunday. There was work to be done, and a fair going on after all.

Wayne Regional Agricultural Fair director Milton Ingram has never been one for glory or limelight. So, he probably would rather have let his retirement pass without any kind of fanfare.

But the truth is that the fair wouldn't be where it is today without him -- and that is an undisputed fact.

Others will take over -- and the volunteers and staff will continue to make the fair sing -- but Milton Ingram is the reason this county's fair has been No. 1 for so long.

So while he might have hated the stage, the speech and the tributes, he certainly has earned them -- and a blue ribbon while he is at it.
