Museum talk: Plans might be continuing, but it is your time to talk.

One of the most annoying things about public officials is that many of them actually believe their own press.

So, if they manage to get a survey that reinforces a decision, they just assume that the community is 100 percent behind them -- even if the statistical pool of respondents does not really support such a finding.

Such might be the case with the plans for an Air Force museum in Goldsboro.

In all fairness, city officials have not really had a chance to say what they really think about the latest news about this project -- especially the enormous price tag and rather ambitious fundraising goal. So, perhaps when they are presented with all the facts, the results from the recent Air Force museum survey will give them pause, and time to think that perhaps there could be a better time to tackle such an ambitious, while ultimately worthwhile, project.

We shall see.

However, in the meantime, now is the time to let your city leadership know how you feel about this latest news and the project overall -- before it becomes a done deal.

And who knows, there just might be a better idea out there -- or a tweak or two -- that might make this proposal palatable, or, at the very least, less of a potential burden on an already strained budget.
