Challenge: Find a place where you can operate without an ID

Forget all the long-winded pontificating about the fairness or unfairness of considering new voter identification laws.

Here's a challenge -- and a simple one that anyone can do in their spare time. Perhaps there might even be a few legislators and national leaders who ought to give it a try.

Try to conduct any major business without an identification card of some sort.

Go ahead. We dare you.

The truth is that there is literally almost nowhere where you can ask for a secured or even some just everyday transactions where you are not going to prove you are whom you say you are.

And most people know they need identification and they have it -- unless, of course, they are illegal immigrants or they have a reason not to want to be identified.

So stop the nonsense. Voters should be able to produce ID if they are going to vote.

And that is the bottom line.
