Achievers: WCC Basic Skills program graduates should be proud

It is not easy earning a diploma of any kind.

But it takes special courage to gather yourself together and pursue a high school diploma after your high school days are over.

It is not only the work involved and the motivation required to decide to make such a change in your life.

For many of those who graduated Thursday, going back to school also meant balancing the other stresses in their lives, like children, a job, and all the other responsibilities that go along with being an adult.

So for those who turned their tassels Thursday, we say bravo. You can be proud not only of what you have personally achieved, but also of the example you have set for your children and grandchildren.

You taught them all that it is never too late to pursue a dream -- and that hard work and perseverance really pays off.

And, truly, there is no greater gift.
