Pickle plans: Festival fun will be culmination of much hard work

If you have not already planned to make it so, the North Carolina Pickle Festival should be on your agenda this weekend.

The annual gathering in Mount Olive promises to have all sorts of opportunities for fun and good food -- and a few surprises, too.

Not only will there be booths galore, there will also be many activities for children of all ages, making the festival the perfect spot for a family to spend a few hours Saturday.

To make such a large event move so smoothly takes a lot of hours by a lot of volunteers -- and this year's event is no exception.

Thanks are in order to pickle festival chairperson Julie Beck and her dedicated co-volunteers, who started putting together this year's event almost immediately after finishing the last one and have put in long hours on planning and logistics since then.

Their hard work is what makes the festival such a fun afternoon.

So gather up your family, put on your best pickle duds and head on over to Mount Olive this weekend.

And if you are a pickle lover, make sure you bring your appetite.
