Dick Clark: This generation doesn't understand impact of music man

It is not a subject to which we will devote much space. But those of us from the American Bandstand generation cannot help but take a minute to point out the impact of the news.

This was the week part of the music died.

Longtime TV personality Dick Clark was an icon for those who grew up in music's heyday -- and he introduced many of us to some of what are now considered legends of rock 'n' roll.

And there is no one quite like him and there never will be again.

Of course, music has changed as well as it has evolved from the lyrics and innocence of the 1950s to the much stronger beats and lyrics of today. You can decide if that is good or bad.

But for those of us who remember, Clark will always be the king of the golden age of music. And he will be missed.
