Still time: There are opportunities to have your chance to be heard

There are a little less than two weeks left to announce your intent to run for office in the upcoming election.

And there certainly are plenty of places where you could make a difference -- and even some slots where, as of now, there is no one to take over the responsibilities.

So as the days left in the filing period tick away, perhaps there are some potential leaders out there who might consider getting involved in city council, county commission, the legislature or the school board.

This just might be the year when some new voices get their chance to be heard.

One of the problems in today's world is that so many people complain about the state of their community, yet they are unwilling to step up to make a change.

This election is offering a rare opportunity to add new voices to the mix.

It might just be the year to toss your hat into the ring.
