Sick all right: It is sad to say, but North Carolina has the right to be sick of Edwards

It is too bad that former Sen. John Edwards has found one more reason to delay the inevitable -- the necessity that he answer for the charges pending against him.

But it should surprise no one that he has come up with yet another excuse.

It is news, so we report it, but that doesn't mean that we, and everyone else in North Carolina, are not sick of seeing his face and hearing his voice.

Or perhaps it is just that we have had enough this year of crooks, deadbeats and line-crossers.

Who knows how this one is going to end up, but one thing is definitely sure, North Carolina needs to have a long memory when it comes to John Edwards.

And perhaps we should take this opportunity as well to forge a New Year's resolution -- no more crooks, deadbeats or line-crossers in North Carolina government in 2012.

Let's hope it is a real possibility and not a pie-in-the-sky hope from a corruption-weary electorate.
