United effort: Fundraising goal is really met one piece of generosity at a time

Even though a winner has taken home the Fair Share Challenge car, the United Way's efforts to take care of its community are not over yet.

With only a few weeks left in the annual fundraising campaign, the United Way is making a final call to Wayne County residents to commit to helping provide the funds that allow the organization's partner agencies to serve their community.

Thousands of Wayne County residents benefit from programs like the Partnership for Children, Meals on Wheels, the Boys & Girls Club of Wayne County, the Salvation Army, the American Red Cross and other charities that are funded, in part, by the United Way.

And these organizations are making a difference in local residents' lives every year.

The truth is that it is not the big donations that make the United Way work. It is the small commitments from people who donate a portion of their salaries to help others.

Without you, there would be no United Way.

So, if you can give, make a commitment to do so before the campaign ends. Even though your gift might not seem like a game-changer, all those little bits add up to hope and futures for those who are struggling in our community.

There is still time to make a difference.

The United Way -- and your community -- need you.
