We need you: Empty Stocking Fund will bring holiday joy to needy children

This weekend, 600 children will have the chance to receive a special toy, a stocking and a visit with Santa Claus as part of the 2011 Empty Stocking Fund Party.

If you have never been, you cannot possibly imagine how grateful the families are -- and the wonder that is in the eyes of the children who are part of this special day.

But the truth is, all of you are there, every year.

Without the caring of the Wayne County community, there would be no Empty Stocking Fund.

And this year, especially, we need you again.

Providing Christmas for 600 children is not an easy task. It takes a lot of time and effort to collect the funds that are necessary to purchase the items for the children, which include a package of new clothes.

And for generations, you, and your parents and grandparents, have made it possible for us to continue to help more and more families.

This is a tough year. We know. And many of you are stretched thin trying to care for your own families' needs and to help others through your church or other community group.

But if you can, share a little with these children. It brings a lot of joy -- we promise.
