Trump talk: Who knows if he means it -- or if he will run -- but, what if ...

Donald Trump certainly has the gift of the gab -- and he knows how to gather an audience.

The famous developer and investor has had his share of ups and downs as well as a series of very successful television projects.

And now, he seems to be seriously considering a bid to become the next president of the United States.

That's right, seriously.

Listening to him is interesting -- and he says some things that Americans want to hear someone say -- it is time to stop spending money, it is time to make America's enemies (and the world) sit up and take notice; and that this country needs a firm hand in the White House.

And to top all that off, he also is actually sending someone to find out the answer once and for all concerning the president's birth certificate.

There are some positives to Trump -- we already know he has an ego and an attitude; he is used to being in the limelight, so fame is not his goal; and he has a tough guy image that precedes him.

Not so bad. And, kind of a nice change from the namby pamby people pleasers who seem to gravitate to political jobs these days.

At least President Trump would have a backbone.

So while this whole thing might be a publicity stunt that ends up going nowhere, how fun it would be to have a new kind of candidate in the mix in 2012.

At the very least, it might keep some of the old school politicians on their toes.

At best, we might actually have a president who knows what a budget is and how to make, and keep, money.

Perhaps we could use a little by the seat of the pants common sense in Washington.

Sure is tempting, isn't it?
