Say thanks: This weekend, thank those who are serving

This week, hundreds of Seymour Johnson Air Force Base personnel returned home from another deployment to Afghanistan.

Many of us probably were touched by the tearful reunions, the excited children and the stories of families long-separated who get to share some time together.

So this weekend is probably a good time to take time to remember the thousands of men and women and their families who serve every day at SJAFB.

If you know one -- or more -- then you are ahead of the game.

It does not take much to thank these men and women and their families for the sacrifices they make in our name every day.

If you see someone in uniform, stop them and say thank you. It is a simple gesture, a chance to say to a dedicated service member that his or her contributions matter to those in whose name he or she serves.

And if you know one of the returning heroes, a pilot, a maintainer or weapons systems officer or security forces member, just stop by to say welcome home.

It is easy to forget with so much else in the news just how important these men and women and others like them are to our country.

Why not take a few minutes out of your day to acknowledge what they do for their country every day?
