Another call to care: This community never stops caring for those who need help

We ask a lot out of you -- the residents of Wayne County.

When there is a need, you respond brilliantly -- with compassion, generosity and good will -- always ready to help a neighbor.

And we are asking for your help again -- to make sure local families have food this holiday season and to make sure more than 600 needy local children will get a visit from Santa Claus.

Our food drive and Empty Stocking Fund drives are a big part of our holiday season this year -- and projects we are proud to sponsor.

This is our first food drive -- and with the help of a bunch of local partners -- we are collecting as much food as possible for those who might not be having a great year. We want to make sure no one has a bare table this holiday season.

The Empty Stocking Fund is something we have done -- with the Goldsboro Woman's Club and the Continental Society -- for decades.

If you were there on party day and saw the joy in the eyes of these children, you would understand why we put so much time into it each year.

But to accomplish all these good works, we need you. Bring us a canned food item or a few dollars for the Empty Stocking Fund. It will be a Christmas gift of hope and compassion that will brighten the holidays for someone in need.
