Found their maps: Politicians have actually remembered where North Carolina is

Don't be fooled -- candidates and those stumping for them did not just decide to take trips to key battleground states across the country because they had nothing better to do.

And they are not in North Carolina because they fancied a beach trip either.

A voter who is deciding where to cast his or her vote this November should not be fooled by the visits or the rhetoric from either party. These last-minute jaunts are more distraction than important information-gathering opportunities for the fall vote.

Look instead for those who have made multiple visits to the area during non-campaign months, and look at records that show whether or not a candidate has voted for legislation that would benefit this region.

If the answer to either question is 'no,' look elsewhere, no matter what anyone -- even the president -- has to say.

And while you are at it, look hard at challengers, too. They should have something to say, not just fingers to point at incumbents.

Enjoy the speeches and the cheers. Nothing wrong with that. But when it comes time to vote, choose based on what is the right decision for your state, county and country. You won't regret it.
