Fish, for kids: Make plans to have lunch -- or dinner -- with the Shriners

For just a little bit of money -- and a trip to Herman Park -- you, too, can make a difference in a sick child's life.

The Wayne Shrine Club's fall fish fry is an annual event that benefits the Shriners Hospitals -- a network of health-care facilities that make making children well their top priority.

And proceeds from events like the local fish fry help pay the bills.

There are 30 local children right now being helped at the hospitals -- and there is room for even more. The Shriners want you to pass that word around, too. They are looking for more children to help.

The Shrine Club will do all the work. All you have to do to make life better for a sick child is decide that Friday would be a good day to eat fish.

The Shriners work hard all year to make not only the hospitals possible, but also to support the children and their families with transportation and even a special Christmas party. They should be commended for the work that they do.

This is the community's chance to join in - and to say thank you to a group of men, and their wives, who have dedicated part of their lives to making sure every child has a chance to be well.
