Salute to 916th: Air Refueling Wing has proven it is the best of the best

What does it take to be named the top wing in your command?

It is about technical prowess, sure -- and the ability to complete a mission with dedication, determination and efficiency.

But to be named No. 1 -- the best above all others -- takes more than just skill.

It takes heart.

And that, more than anything else, is what makes the fact that the 916th Air Refueling Wing is headquartered right here in Wayne County such a reason to be proud.

This week, the wing was honored for its achievements above the battlefields and here at home. It was more than simply a pat on the back -- it was an acknowledgment of superior performance and a long-standing tradition of excellence.

Their commander, Col. Randall Ogden, is right. His airmen are among the best -- with a patriotism and dedication to duty that are obvious with every mission they complete and every honor they bring home.

He, and they, should be proud of what they have achieved. This honor was certainly well-deserved.

So, congratulations members of the 916th -- and thank you for all you do.

This community feels lucky to be your adopted hometown.
