Courage to fight: It takes a lot to battle back -- and the Gambrel family is going strong

Imagine what it must be like to hear that your little boy -- your child -- has been in a car accident that will change his world forever.

That is the reality that the Gambrel family faced when their son, Taylor, was hit by a car last year.

The fight back has not been easy, and there still is a long way to go, but the family reports that the Eastern Wayne Middle School student is doing well and making progress every day.

The accident has not been easy on the family, but through the generosity of the community and friends and family, the Gambrels got some of the equipment and housing they needed to take care of Taylor.

And now, thank goodness, he is home and doing well.

This coming weekend, there will be another benefit to assist this family -- a spaghetti dinner at Daniels Memorial Methodist Church. For a few dollars, participants can have some spaghetti and help to make a young man's battle a little easier.

No amount of money is going to make the Gambrels' lives completely whole again. That possibility ended forever when the news came about Taylor's accident.

But how nice it is that their community has made it possible for them to have a new start, with a new home.

Organizers say that the money will be used to help the Gambrels pay off their new mobile home -- one less worry for a family already braving so much.

Seems like it would be worth the price of a plate of spaghetti to take one more worry off their shoulders.
