Go Heels: Set aside politics for now -- unite to cheer on UNC

The following cheer might not be possible for everyone in North Carolina -- especially if Tar Heel Blue is replaced in your wardrobe by Wolfpack Red, Blue Devil Blue or the gold of the Wake Forest Deacs.

But with all the arguing, fussing and fighting lately, it is time to set aside your personal differences and your concerns to unite under one flag -- North Carolina's banner -- and to cheer for the Tar Heels as they try to make it to the final two and another championship title.

OK, quit grumbling out there -- all of you who wish there was another name on that dance card. Now is the time to remember your heritage and your state spirit and to cheer on your rival -- all in the name of Tar Heel pride.

So, unless you have a personal reason for not choosing to wear even a little blue this weekend like Vice President Joe Biden -- we would not want any marriages destroyed over a basketball game -- we expect you to at least clap once in a while and cheer on the UNC team on the road to the national championship.

Or, at the very least, if you just can't bring yourself to cheer, could you just turn off the TV? We just don't want any negativity.

With all the bad news we have been getting lately -- and all the stress that has gone along with it -- a chance to see a North Carolina team get the chance to perhaps hoist a national championship trophy is worth the pain.

If only just for one day.
