Oh, come on: Furor over Ellen DeGeneres’ dog adoption is just silly

Gee, who isn’t just a little bit happy when a powerful celebrity gets told he or she has to follow the rules like the rest of us.

So, when the Ellen DeGeneres dog scandal hit, at first glance it looked like another bigshot pushing her weight around.

But under the light of day we see that all it is is stupidity — and a bunch of us regular people who need to think more about the end than the means.

The TV talk show host had a problem with a dog she adopted, so she found it another loving home, where it became the best friend for a little girl.

So what.

The dog rescue group that has turned this mole hill into a mountain needs to remember its purpose — to find loving homes for needy and neglected animals.

While there are rules to be followed, in this case, the end result was happiness all around — no paperwork required. It is time for them to get out of the way.

And then, maybe, something else can top the news.
