Paramount help: Mrs. Baddour and Hulse deserve applause for efforts

Bravos are in order. And, if there were any of those little statues of the golden man left, these actors might even deserve a couple of those, too.

Margaret Boothe Baddour and Geoff Hulse spent their Oscar weekend on stage, helping raise money for the Paramount Theater.

Their two-person show brought rave reviews — and plenty of funds for the theater reconstruction.

It should also present a challenge to the rest of us who care about the future of downtown Goldsboro and the performing arts.

Mrs. Baddour and Hulse spent long hours they did not have rehearsing, creating and promoting not themselves, but the reconstruction of the theater they loved. They wanted to be part of its rebirth and to keep it and the arts in the minds of the community. And they were and did.

Both have challenged all of us to be part of the fundraising campaign for the project — and to be a part of making our community a better place to live.

Now, all we have to do is what this community always does when there is a job to be done — get to work.
