Oprah Winfrey: Project adds luster to a shining image

Oprah Winfrey is one of the most admired, respected — and loved — women in America. Make that one of the most admired, respected and loved individuals in the whole world today.

Her programs and her actions on and off camera project an innate wholesomeness that surely must reflect the person she is.

Parents don’t have to worry about their children watching Oprah.

Her contributions to a better society and to the betterment of all people speak volumes of her sincerity. In today’s vernacular, she not only talks the talk, she walks the walk. And puts her money where her mouth is.

Recently, Ms. Winfrey embarked on a new crusade. She has been concerned about convicted sex offenders who somehow are on the loose. Such people tend to continue their predatory behavior. No individuals and no communities are safe with them lurking in their midst — awaiting only the opportunity to assault yet another victim.

Oprah Winfrey moved to do something personal — and financial — about it.

She offered $100,000 to individuals who provide information leading to the capture of convicted sex molesters who are fugitives from justice.

Shortly after the names and pictures of the first fugitives were presented on her program, two had been caught in the Oprah Winfrey “cast net.” And money to the informants is forthcoming.

It’s a bit like the very effective Crime Stoppers programs operating in many communities. But this one is nationwide and targets particularly despicable people.

Oprah Winfrey for many years has exhibited an excellent sense of values for people young and old across our country. This latest project adds luster to the already shining inspiration she is.
