MARTHA M. KORSCHUN

MARTHA M. KORSCHUN

Nov. 1, 1934-July 17, 2018

Martha Moore Morton Korschun, 83, Goldsboro, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018, while surrounded by her family.

Martie was born November 1, 1934, in Fordyce, Ark. to the late Samuel Frederick Morton and Eva Lucille Moore Morton.

She was a graduate of Ashley Hall Borden School in Charleston, S.C., and earned her associates degree at Southern Seminary College in Buena Vista, Va.

Martie was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Goldsboro.

Throughout her life, Martie lived her life with resiliency and a love for life. She could light up a room with her joyous personality and radiant smile. Martie enjoyed entertaining family and friends in her home. Though Martie accomplished so much and blessed so many people in countless ways, she would probably say her greatest accomplishment surely would be her children. Martie also enjoyed interior design and floral arranging as was always reflected in her home. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She will be truly missed.

The family will greet friends Friday, July 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home. A graveside service to celebrate Martie’s life will be Saturday, July 21, at 11 a.m. in Willow Dale Cemetery, with her pastor, the Rev. Dr. Robert F. Bardin officiating.

Martie is survived by her husband of 49 years, Sanford Leonard Korschun; daughters, Eva Kathryn Korschun Simmons and husband, Luke of Raleigh and Suzanne Korschun Hamilton and husband, David of Goldsboro; sons, Stuart Blair Korschun and wife, Tracy of Parker, Colo. and Samuel Frederick Korschun of Goldsboro; her identical twin sister, Elizabeth Morton Crute of Raleigh and her son, Joseph Hunter Crute III and his family; eleven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Martha Elizabeth Korschun.

We would like to give a very special thank you to the wonderful staff at Community Home Care and Hospice for the love and care they provided for Martie during her final days. Simple words cannot express our gratitude. Also a thank you to the caregivers at Brookdale Berkeley who also cared for Martie over this past week.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2451 Crystal Drive, Suite, 900, Arlington, Va., 22202.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
