NANCY MOORE SMITH

Nancy Moore Smith, 73, Goldsboro, passed away Monday at Wayne UNC Health Care.
Nancy was born in Guilford County, and was the daughter of the late Louis Wilson Moore and Lema Kivette Moore.
She lived a life of dedication to her family and friends and to her community.
Nancy was a member of the American Genealogical Historical Society and the Wayne County Public Library.
She enjoyed the opportunities given to her by helping to impact the lives of her children, as well as her neighbors’ children while in her care. She also helped tutor many other children at the Wayne County Boy’s Club.
Nancy will be remembered most for her embodiment of gentleness, grace and selflessness, and her compelling inspiration to be the same.
Nancy was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church in Goldsboro, where she sang in the adult choir and was active in the Susan Borden Sunday school class. She loved to minister to the needs of children at church through many of the church programs, where she extended loving care.
A service to celebrate Nancy’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 24, 2018, at First Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Robert Bardin officiating.
The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the church.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 51 years, Rex Smith; daughter, Margaret Knowles-Tuchman and husband, Michael, and their children, David and Andrew; daughter, Amy Whitehurst and her children, Taylor and Matt; son, Wilson Smith and wife, Emily, and their children, Emerson and Harper; and son, John Manly Smith and wife, Constance, and their children, Everett and Eleanor.
