Stephanie Anne Wehmeyer Alves, 76, Goldsboro, passed away on Wednesday at her home, surrounded by her family.
Stephanie was born in New York on April 23, 1942, to the late Steven and Dorothy M. Wehmeyer. She retired from Wayne County Department of Social Services in 2002. Stephanie brought joy, laughter and love to everyone she met. We were lucky to have her in our lives and the world will be a sadder place without her.
At her request, no formal service will be held.
Stephanie is survived by her husband of 58 years, Jerome A. Alves; sons, Steven J. Alves and wife, Shirley, of Wake Forest, and Robert J. Alves and wife, Kelly, of Pikeville; daughters, Veronica Regan of Bath and Catherine Toomey and husband, James, of Wichita, Kan.; sister, Julianne Vogel of Donna, Texas; brother, Frederick Stilson of Lacey, Wash.; grandchildren, Matt, Julianne, Emily, Mitch, Christy, James, Sean, Sara, Alex and Aaron; and great-grandchildren, Garrett, Jenna, Jaxson, Paizley, Abbot and Sean Jr.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to Cures for the Colors, SMOC, 203 Cox Blvd., Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
