THOMAS D. HOLLOWELL
Feb. 23, 1924-April 6, 2018
Thomas David Hollowell, longtime Mount Olive resident and businessman, passed away early Friday morning, April 6, 2018, at SECU House at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Mr. Hollowell, son of the late Talmadge Hollowell and Mattie King Hollowell, was born in Sampson County.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, J.B. Hollowell and Wesley Hollowell, and his beloved wife, Ruth Memory Sheppard Hollowell, to whom he was married for 64 happy years.
He proudly served his country in the United States Navy.
He was a member of Mount Olive Masonic Lodge and a life member of Mount Olive Presbyterian Church.
He owned and operated Hollowell Insurance and Realty, Hollowell Mini Storage and Hollowell Estates all in the Mount Olive area.
Mr. Hollowell is survived by his two daughters, Janet Hollowell Phipps and Faye Hollowell Porter both of Mount Olive, and two grandsons, Thomas Hollowell Hooks and Logan Sheppard Porter.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 10, at 7 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, with the Rev. Paul Rose officiating, followed by visitation. An interment service will be Wednesday, April 11, at 10:30 a.m. in Calypso Cemetery, and will include Masonic Rites.
At other times, friends will be received at the home of Faye H. Porter in Birchwood, Mount Olive.
