TOM ROSE
Died March 4, 2018
Mr. Tom Rose, 79, Surf City and Fayetteville, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2018.
He was a retail furniture entrepreneur and co-owner of Furniture Liquidators in Spring Lake with his wife, Myra, since 1986.
Tom was a Master Mason and a Shriner.
In 1957, he was a chess champion, but he also enjoyed playing golf and cards.
Although Tom loved the beach, he loved New York City, too. He frequently talked about attending a pillow fight in Times Square, but he would only observe it.
His favorite restaurant was City Cafe in Holly Ridge. And on the menu, you will find a sandwich named after Tom, the "Tom's Club Sandwich," which is a regular club sandwich without the center bread and cut in half instead of in triangles.
Tom was the life of the party; he was always telling jokes, and loved to dance and sing, even if he didn't know all the words.
He had a sweet tooth and enjoyed nibbling on sweets and sipping his V.O.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Myra Cashwell Rose of the home; three sons, Tom Rose II (Vona), Paul Anthony Rose (Trudy) and John David Rose (Jessica) all of Fayetteville; two brothers, Travis Rose of Wrightsville Beach and Nick Rose Sr. of Goldsboro; a sister, Martha Watson of Wrightsville Beach; 10 grandchildren, Taylor Rose, Alison Rose, Johnathan Rose, Jack Rose, Jillian Rose, Devin Johnson, Kayla Johnson, Austin Barker, Barbara Dennis, and Annie Shaw; and two great-grandchildren, Connor Bowers and Lilliana Huckins.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2018, at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 11, 2018, in Rogers and Breece Funeral Home chapel.
Services entrusted to Rogers and Breece Funeral Home, 500 Ramsey St., Fayetteville, N.C., 28301.
