LOIS ELIZABETH "BETH" WAILES MCLENDON

Mrs. Lois Elizabeth "Beth" Wailes McLendon, 85, Wadesboro, died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2018, at Summit Place in Little River, S.C.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, 2018, in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park.
The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the funeral home.
Beth was born July 14, 1932, in Natchitoches, La., a daughter of the late Julian Howard Wailes Jr. and the late Lois Fern Dowden Wailes. She was a homemaker and an exemplary military wife and devoted mother.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Wadesboro, where she was a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class and was a part of the Shut-In Ministry, delivering recordings of the Sunday worship services and church bulletins.
Surviving are her children, Elaine (Bob) Cansler of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Gene (Debbie) McLendon of Goldsboro, and Joel McLendon of Aberdeen; her grandchildren, Shannon McLendon, David McLendon, Phillip Cansler, Emily Cansler, Chelsey Collea, Chris McLendon and Sydnie Bill; her 19 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Christelle Winn of Lampases, Texas, and Lynette McBride of Hillsboro, Texas; and her beloved dog, Abby.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Levander McLendon, major, U.S. Air Force retired; and a brother, Samuel Howard "Mac" McLendon.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Summit Place of North Myrtle Beach for the wonderful care they provided for Beth.
