Jackie Page Murray, 76, Cedar Point, passed away Monday, Oct. 2, 2017, at Carteret Health Care in Morehead City.
She was born April 9, 1941, in Wayne County, N.C., daughter of the late Preston Hillary and Arvona Parnell Eason.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 9, 2017, at Burgaw Baptist Church, with the Rev. Tom Cannady officiating. Burial will follow at a later date.
The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
She was a dedicated volunteer with the Pender County Historical Society and an active member of Burgaw Baptist Church, where she took great pride in her position as the head of the flower committee.
She received her master's degree from East Carolina University.
She was a special education teacher at Rosewood High and Swansboro Middle, and finished her career at Wallace Rose Hill High.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Murray of the home; son, Joey Smith of Snow Hill; stepchildren, Ashley Murray of Atlanta, Ga., and Travis Murray (Sherry) of High Point, N.C.; granddaughter, Cory Smith of Garner, N.C.; stepgrandchildren, Josie, Dillon and Sissy Murray; uncle, Bernice Parnell of Goldsboro; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Eason.
