MORRIS CLIFTON PATE

Morris Clifton Pate, 85, Goldsboro, passed away Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017, at Wayne UNC Hospital.
Morris was born in Johnston County July 6, 1932, to the late Barney and Irene Dixon Pate.
He was married to the late Annie Lou Sasser Pate, who preceded him in death Jan. 15, 2006.
Morris proudly served his country in the United States Army for six years and during the Korean War.
He was also a valued employee of General Electric, and retired after several years of service.
Morris was a good friend and a great father, and had a generous heart. He provided a wonderful home for his family, and gave all he could to his family and strangers alike.
Morris loved fishing, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2017, at 11 a.m. in Wayne Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2017, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his home.
Morris is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Dennis Hartzog, and his grandchildren and the apples of his eye, Bergen, Cooper and Peyton Hartzog.
He is also survived by special friends, who provided loving care to him, Rex and Marie Hartzog, as well as several nieces and nephews he loved very much.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Pate and Earl Pate.
