Samuel Herbert "Sam" Hocutt Jr., 80, Williamston, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Memorial Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jason Braswell, the Rev. Dean Harrell and the Rev. Robbie Parker officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Sam was the son of the late Samuel H. Hocutt and Harriett Coppedge. He retired from Belk Tyler Stores, where he served as manager for many years. Sam was a graduate from Wake Forest University. He was also a faithful member of Memorial Baptist Church.
On Aug. 17,1958, he married the love of his life, Nancy Key Hocutt, who survives.
Survivors in addition to his wife are daughters, Harriett H. Weaver and husband, Andy, of Williamston, and Lucy H. Taylor and husband, Roy, of Williamston; sons, Samuel Herbert Hocutt III and wife, Christine, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and John C. Hocutt and wife, Jamie, of Houston, Texas; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Biggs Funeral Home on Sunday from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and other times at the home.
