Willie Mae Hardee Hill, 89, Goldsboro, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2017, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.
Willie Mae was born in Johnston County July 28, 1928, to the late Wilbur Allen Hardee and Ada Mae Batten Hardee. She was married to the late Henry Thomas Hill Jr.
Willie Mae retired from Wayne Memorial Hospital after 20 years of service.
She loved First Christian Church, and was a dedicated and faithful servant her entire life. Willie Mae was also an instrumental part of the Christian Women's Fellowship.
She enjoyed gardening and cooking for others, and could often be found helping others in her community.
Willie Mae brought joy, laughter and love to everyone she met as she never met a stranger.
Our family was lucky to have her in our lives.
The family will receive friends Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017, from 1 to 2 p.m. at First Christian Church, followed by a service to celebrate Willie Mae's life at 2 p.m. in the sanctuary, with the Rev. Dr. Fred Clarke and the Rev. Dr. Penny Ziemer officiating. Interment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.
Willie Mae is survived by her daughter, Sharon Watkins and husband, Brantley, of Goldsboro; granddaughter, Kimberly Younts and husband, David; and great-grandson, Sam Younts.
She is also survived by her brothers, Bill Hardee and wife, Nancy, W.A. Hardee and wife, Debbie, and James Hardee and wife, Barbara; sister, Ann Brown; and several nieces and nephews she loved very much.
Although flowers are welcome, memorials may be made to First Christian Church, 1609 E. Ash St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
