Richard Sebastian Marino, age 65, died Wednesday evening at Rex Hospital. He was born in Saugus, Mass., to the late Sebastian and Mary Marino. A 20-year veteran with the United States Air Force.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, with Pastor Jim Wall officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will follow at Wayne Memorial Park. The family will be receiving friends Sunday from noon to 2 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.
Mr. Marino is survived by his wife of 44 years, Evelyn Marino; a son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Bridget Marino of Goldsboro; a daughter and son-in-law, Tracy and Kevin Simmons of Goldsboro; a brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Kathy Marino of Lynn, Mass; 10 grandchildren, Anthony Simmons, Tyler Wallace, Michael Dougherty, Nicholas Marino, Austin Simmons, Nathan Marino, Hailey Marino, Kenzie Hathway, Ethan Hathway and Bryson Marino (to be born in December); and a great-granddaughter, Paisley Simmons. He had five furbaby companions that held a special place in his heart.
