Lewis Carr Jr. 83, Goldsboro, passed away Monday, July 10, 2017, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center following a courageous battle with cancer
Lewis was born in Frankfort, Ky., July 20, 1933, to the late Lewis Carr Sr. and Druscilla Hall Carr. He was married to the late Marie Brooks Carr.
Lewis retired from the United States Air Force with 20 years of service with the rank of master sergeant, and he also served 13 years in the Air National Guard.
He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, and will be greatly missed.
A service celebrating Lewis' life will be held Saturday, July 15, 2017, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with pastor Jason Stoeber officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Lewis is survived by his daughters, Brenda C. (Frank) Abraham of Goldsboro and Linda C. (Jerry) Mueller of Snow Hill; sister, Ann Zimmerman; and his grandchildren, Shannon (Lucas) Jordan and Jason Jensen, and their father, René Jensen.
In addition to his wife and parents, Lewis was preceded in death by his brothers, Curtis Carr, Eugene Carr, Donald Carr and Miles Carr, and sisters, Marjorie Peyton and Ruth Jones.
The family will receive friends at Seymour Funeral Home Friday, July 14, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m.
