Ethel Phillips Cowan, 85, Pikeville, died Saturday at UNC Hospital at Chapel Hill.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church, 332 Arrington Bridge Road, Goldsboro.
There will be a time of visiting and sharing with the family from noon to 12:45 p.m. in the fellowship hall.
Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park, 2925 U.S. 117 S., Dudley. Pastor Stanley Kelly and the Rev. John Shore will officiate.
Surviving are her son, James Cowan (Michelle) of Phoenix Ariz.; grandchildren, James "J.B." Bryon Cowan, Matthew Allen Cowan, Alexandria Rayne Cowan, Jakkey Flowers and Colton Cowan; and brother, Keith Phillips of Pine Level.
Mrs. Cowan was a native of Johnston County, and she was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Cowan Jr.; her parents, Margaret Estella Garner Phillips and Hillard Washington Phillips; grandson, Andrew Hyett; brothers, C.B. Phillips, Bobby G. Phillips, Jasper Delbert Phillips and Howard Kenneth Phillips; and sisters, Ruth Alene Pittman and Mary Estelle Mitchell.
She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and was active in the Ladies Fellowship Group.

Arrangements are with Evergreen Funeral Home of Goldsboro.
