Donnie Earl Pierce, 79, died Friday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
He was born in Wilson County Aug. 28, 1937, to the late Linwood Earl Pierce and Retha Johnson Pierce.
Donnie was a veteran of the United States Navy, and was a retired truck driver, having most recently worked for Swift.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, at Wayne Memorial Park, with the Rev. Dave B. Varnell officiating.
Donnie is survived by his daughter, Donna Lopez (Christina) of Colorado; stepsons, Jeffrey Medlin (Rhonda) of Clayton and John Medlin (Shannon) of Rocky Mount; stepdaughters, Carol Wall of Goldsboro and Shirley Perkins of Kentucky; brother, Jackie Pierce (Vivian) of Wilson; sister-in-law, Joyce Pierce of Goldsboro; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
