JOHN C. LIKENS

John Charles Likens, of Kinston, passed away at home Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017. He was 45 years old.
Visitation will be Sunday, Jan. 22, beginning at 2 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive with funeral services to follow at 3 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Mount Olive.
John was a 1991 graduate of South Lenoir High School. He was a "character" to say the least. He enjoyed NFL football and was an ardent NFL card collector. He liked all things John Deere, loved rutabagas and cheesecake. He enjoyed watching "Gunsmoke."
While he and his mother went through some hard times together, their trust and faith in the Lord is what always brought them through. He had worshipped at Grace Baptist in Kinston.
John, preceded in death by his father, Charles Herschel Likens; and a sister, Candace G. Likens; is survived by his mother, Jeanette Mae Pearsall Likens, a native of Mount Olive. Also surviving are aunts, Betty Wood of Willow Springs and Pattie Smith of Kenansville; dear family friends, George and Libby Woodard, Carl and Judy Thigpen, and Susie and Donald Thompson, all of Kinston; and his caregivers who became like part of the family, Katrina Gatling and Kimberly Norris.
We love you, John, but God loves you more! Now, you've been made whole.
