WILLARD ALLEN "SONNY" ANDERSON

Willard Allen "Sonny" Anderson, 88, died Sunday evening at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Born in Wayne County, he was the son of the late William Mark and Lillie Holloman Anderson, and was the husband of the late Evelyn Marie Sutton Anderson.
A service to celebrate his life will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
Willard had retired as tax collector with Wayne County, and was a charter member of Brogden United Methodist Church.
He had served in the North Carolina National Guard.
Willard is survived by four sons, Wayne Anderson, Steven Anderson, Mark Anderson and wife, Debbie, and Clark Anderson, and three daughters, Willa Austin and husband, Joe, Daryl Cartledge and husband, David, and Vicky Pigford and husband, Tom.
A daughter, Connie Best, married to Sherman Best, preceded him in death.
He is also survived by a sister, Carol Menley, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Kevin and Larry Johnson.
