ULYSSES E. BOWDEN

Mr. Ulysses E. Bowden, 84, 705 S. Breazeale Ave., Mount Olive, passed Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016, at home.
The celebration of his life will be held Thursday, Nov. 17, 2016, at 1 p.m. at Winn Chapel Church, 110 Smith St., Mount Olive, N.C. He will be laid to rest at Carver Memorial Park, Breazeale Avenue, Mount Olive, N.C., with full military honors.
There will be a visitation held Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2016, from 2 to 7 p.m. at J.B. Rhodes Funeral Home and Cremations, with the family arriving to receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m.
He was born March 28, 1932, in Wayne County, N.C., to Harry Edward Bowden and Lillie Mae Ward Bowden.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Evelyne Beulke J. Bowden; two daughters, Amber Bowden, an operations director in Santa Rosa, Calif., and Yvonne Bowden-Parker, retired United States Army (C. Victor Parker) of Baltimore, Md.; one grandson, Victor Malik Parker; and additional family includes, Ulysses Edward Harris (Debbie) and their six children of Raleigh, N.C., and numerous cousins and friends.
He was drafted into the United States Army in 1952, where he served for 20 years.
In 1980, he opened his own florist, "Ulysses Florist," which he ran until 2004.
