DELORES 'PEGGY' BREEZE GRIFFIN
Feb. 18, 1931- Sept. 21, 2016
Peggy Breeze Griffin, 85, died Wednesday morning at her home. Born in Wake County she was the daughter of the late Robert and Annie Belle Breeze and was the wife of the late William David Griffin. A son, Timothy William Griffin, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Madison Avenue Baptist Church with her grandson, the Rev. Sam Fornecker and the Rev. Robert Fulkerson officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the narthex of the church.
Peggy retired as a teacher with the Wayne County Schools. She had taught at Eastern Wayne Junior High School and was a member of the Fidelis Omecron Chapter of the Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority. She also enjoyed being a member of Madison Avenue Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class and had helped to organize the Special Blessings Class. She enjoyed teaching in both classes. She participated in Precept Bible Studies, served as a board member for The Wayne County Sheltered Workshop and formerly served on The Salvation Army Women's Auxillary.
She is survived by a son, Jimmy David Griffin, a daughter, Jeanie Griffin Sherman, grandchildren, Sarah Cribb, Sam Fornecker, Paige Sinkiewicz and Mitch Fornecker, and her great-grandchildren, Carter, Brooks, Jackson, Macon and Evelyn Rose.
Peggy was a heart transplant recipient of 26 years and her family would love for her to be remembered with flowers or memorial contributions to Donate Life of North Carolina, P.O. Box 51262, Durham, N.C. 27717.
