Walter Lenwood Morton, 86, Kinston resident and husband of the late Catherine Crumpler Morton, died Sunday, Sept. 18, at Willow Creek Nursing Center in Goldsboro.
Funeral will be Thursday, Sept. 22, at 2 p.m. at Tyndall's Funeral Home in Mount Olive, with burial following in Calypso Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Sept. 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Tyndall's.
Born in Calypso, he was retired from the United States Army with 20 years of service, was retired from DuPont Co. in Kinston and also was retired from employment with a security guard company.
Surviving are a son, Linwood Guy Morton of Pikeville; a daughter, Evelin Morton; a stepson, Danny Crumpler and wife, Alice, of Kinston; a stepdaughter, Delaine Robinson and husband, Kenny, of New Bern; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
