PHILLIPS WORRELL
July 22, 1928-Sept. 18, 2016
Virginia Phillips Worrell, 88, Goldsboro, went to be with her Lord Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016, at her home surrounded by her family.
Virginia was born in Wood County, W. Va., July 22, 1928, to the late Tony and Ruth Emerick Phillips.
She was a founding member of Oak Forest Church of Christ, where she was a teacher and mentor for all her life. Virginia was dedicated to the Lads to Leaders program, where she nurtured many young lives, and to the Ladies Bible class that she taught for better than 30 years.
She and her husband, Lawrence, provided meals, emotional support and a home away from home for many a young airman stationed in Goldsboro, and the table always had an extra plate for anyone who wanted to join family for a meal.
Virginia accomplished much, and touched so many people in countless ways.
She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother.
Virginia was a godly, loving, kind, compassionate, gentle, yet strong woman, and she blessed the lives of all who were lucky enough to know her.
A service celebrating Virginia's life will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016, at Oak Forest Church of Christ, with Lenny Reagan and Robert Goff officiating.
The family will greet friends immediately following the service in the church lobby.
A private interment for the family will be held in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Virginia is survived by her husband of 66 years, Lawrence Worrell; daughter, Anita Lamberth; son, Chris Worrell; four grandchildren, Scott, Christina, Ross and Jesse; four great-grandchildren; and one brother.
Virginia was preceded in death by another son, Robin Dale Worrell.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Oak Forest Church of Christ, 2705 N. Park Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
