Mary Doreen Hutson, 87, Fremont, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.
Funeral services to celebrate Mary's life will be held Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home. Interment will follow the service at Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Hutson was born in Brunswick County Feb. 2, 1929, to the late Henry and Velma Smith Inman.
She was a member of Pinkney Baptist Church, where she loved singing in the choir.
She loved working in her flower and vegetable garden, and her most favorite memory was fishing on Ocean Isle Pier.
She cherished her family, and enjoyed gospel music and sitting on the back porch.
She is survived by one daughter, Marianne Anderson of Brooklet, Ga.; two sons, Henry H. Hutson and wife, Bertha, of Fremont and Allen Hutson and wife, Roni, of Mellen, Wisc.; one sister, Janice Ross of Nakina; one brother, Larry Inman of Charlotte; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hutson was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Hutson; two daughters, Velma Melissa Pelzer and Marsha Garmon; and three brothers, Kermit Inman, Hoyt Inman and Donald Inman.
The family is in the care of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home, 102 N. Pine St. in Fremont.
