DONNIE E. CANNADY
June 5, 1936-June 20, 2016
Donnie Edward Cannady, resident of the Suttontown/Skeeter Point area near Faison, passed away Monday morning, June 20, at his home. He was 80 years of age.
A veteran of the United States Army, he was retired from the town of Mount Olive as its water plant operator.
He was a member of Westbrook Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.
He will be fondly remembered for his love of family, his strong work ethic and his love for fishing and gardening, especially for growing pretty flowers.
He was the son of the late Erastus and Betty Johnson Cannady, and was also preceded in death by a sister, Ellen Kearney, and two brothers, Tony and Forrest Ray Cannady.
His survivors include his wife of 56 years, Jenny Porter Cannady; three daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and Clint Lynch of Rosewood, Julie and Danny Worrell of Mount Olive and Millisa and Gary Jones of Grantham; five grandchildren, Brooke Worrell Shipman and husband, Prince, Beau Worrell, Jessica Jones, Heather Jones and Josh Lynch; two great-grandchildren, Jazilyn and Jayden Shipman; three brothers, Jim Cannady of Garner, Glenn Cannady of Goldsboro and Delmar Cannady of Smithfield; a dear friend, more like an adopted son, Eddie Weeks of Faison; and his longtime furry companion, Skeeter.
The Cannady family will receive friends Wednesday, June 22, at Tyndall Funeral Home beginning at 1 p.m., with funeral services following at 2 p.m. in the chapel. Officiating will be the Rev. Jeff Dail.
Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, condolences may be expressed in the form of memorial gifts to B-3 Youth Ministries, c/o Mount Olive First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 130 Ed Edmundson Road, Mount Olive, N.C., 28365.
