JOHN ROBERT GRAY

John Robert Gray was born in Greenville, S.C., Dec. 28, 1929, to Francis Milton Gray and Elizabeth Moose Gray.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Helen H. Gray.
He is survived by his children, Susan, David and John (with grandchildren, Harrison, Glen and Robert).
In 1991, John married Colleen Medlicott, whose children are Jane Allen (with grandchildren, Robin and Greg), Ja Medlicott (Turner and Cooper) and Jamie Medlicott (Kacie).
John served his country honorably in the United States Navy onboard the USS Kenneth Whiting.
He was a proud member of American Legion Post 380.
John retired from a long career with Southern Bell.
He was active with the Boy Scout program at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Charlotte.
During his retirement, he loved making trips to the coast, fishing with family and friends and gardening at home.
The family would like to thank the staffs of Wayne Memorial Hospital and Kitty Askins Hospice Center for their excellent and compassionate care.
A graveside service with military honors will be held Friday, June 17, 2 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park, 2925 U.S. 117, Dudley, N.C.
In lieu of flowers, family and friends may contribute to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534, or a Boy Scout troop of your choice.
The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro.
