Frances Byrd Best, 87, Mount Olive resident, passed away Monday morning, June 6, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.
The Best family will receive friends at Tyndall Funeral Home Wednesday, June 8, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., with a funeral service to follow at 3 p.m. at Salem Advent Christian Church (next door to the funeral home). Officiating will be Dr. Larry Withrow and the Rev. Steven Wicks. Interment will follow the service at Maplewood Cemetery.
Friends are also being received at the Best residence.

She had the pleasure of working hand-in-hand with her beloved husband, the late James A. "Tinker" Best, and their sons on a daily basis.
A driving force at Best Used Cars Inc., whether it be fulfilling duties of secretary/bookkeeper, cooking meals for the family and employees or doing whatever need was at hand, she devoted her life to the needs of her family, the business, her church and community.
Mrs. Best is survived by a daughter, Vickie Tillman and her husband, Jimmy, of Wilson; four sons, Tommy Outlaw and his fianceé, Ginger McQueen, Doug Best and his wife, Kathy Talton Best and Allen Best and his wife, Diane Kornegay Best, all of Mount Olive, and Michael Best and his fianceé, Beverly Jackson Warren, of Goldsboro; seven grandchildren, Emily Tillman, Casey Best, Hailey Best, Steven Best, Jessica Best, Elliott Best and wife, Katie Franklin Best, and Karen Best; a great-granddaughter, Ava Tyler Best; a brother, Dr. J. William Byrd and his wife, Marcy, of New Bern; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. "Tinker" Best; her parents, William K. Byrd and Essie Pearl Jernigan Byrd; and two brothers, Hubert Lewis Byrd and Alton Ray Byrd.
